Hello, we’re Kimberly and Raphael.

We have the gift of being invited to share in celebrations rooted in connection, meaning and unguarded emotion. We’re photographers who create with deep gratitude, curating moments with sensitivity and intention.

At every gathering, we’re observing the layers and undercurrents that shape the day. With each glance, our eyes are thoughtfully noticing, preserving the details and framing the moments that allow you to return to the fleeting and tender.

Thank you for being here and trusting us with your story.

THE HEART BEHIND OUR WORK

What guides our approach?

Our approach is guided by presence, curiosity, and a deep respect for the experiences unfolding before us. We believe the most meaningful photographs emerge not only from direction, but from attentive observation—when people are free to be fully immersed in the moments they are living.

As we move through a celebration, we’re noticing far more than individual moments. We’re drawn to the interplay of light and shadow, the richness of color, the texture of a place, and the subtle details that give a gathering its distinct character. We pay attention to contrast, atmosphere, movement, and the relationships between people and their surroundings, weaving these elements together to create photographs that feel both artful and true.

By remaining present to both the larger story and its smallest details, we create photographs that are honest, evocative, and deeply rooted in the experience itself.

What does documentary photography mean to us?

Documentary photography is an act of presence. It’s the practice of observing with intention, trusting the moments unfolding before us, and creating space for people to experience their day fully and authentically.

To us, documentary photography isn’t simply a style—it’s a way of seeing. It asks us to remain attentive to the emotions, relationships, and quiet nuances that give a celebration its meaning. Rather than directing or constructing moments, we seek to preserve them as they naturally occur, allowing the story of the day to reveal itself in its own rhythm. It’s our way of honoring the people and experiences entrusted to us with care.

We are drawn to the beauty of what is real and are equally attentive to the atmosphere surrounding those moments—the subtle details that shape a memory.

What does editorial photography mean to us?

To us, editorial photography is the thoughtful shaping of an image. While documentary photography asks us to observe, editorial photography invites us to create with intention in a way that feels natural and true to the people within the frame.

It’s less about perfect poses and more about thoughtful direction. We may guide you into beautiful light, consider the relationship between you and your surroundings, or create space for a moment to unfold with greater clarity. Through composition, movement, color, texture, and form, we craft imagery that feels elevated while remaining deeply connected to the experience itself.

Our desire is never to transform a celebration into a photoshoot. Rather, to create images that are refined and artful while remaining rooted in authenticity—photographs that feel as beautiful as the memories they hold.

How do we honor traditional photographs?

Traditional photographs hold a lasting place in the story of a celebration. While much of our work is rooted in observation and the unscripted moments that unfold naturally, we also recognize the importance of creating photographs that honor family, connection, and legacy.

Our approach to these photographs is inspired by the timeless portraiture of the 1940s—a period when photographs were created with intention and held as treasured records of a person's life and relationships. We’re drawn to the enduring quality of these images and to the way they continue to connect generations long after they were made.

In creating traditional photographs, we find ourselves blending the old with the new. We bring together the artistry, composition, and reverence of classic portraiture with a contemporary sensitivity to direction, light, and storytelling. Rather than striving for perfection, we seek to create photographs that become visual heirlooms and find their way into the hands of future generations.

Why do we choose film?

Film is more than a medium to us—it’s an extension of the way we see.
There is an intentionality that comes with photographing on film. Each frame asks us to slow down, to observe more carefully, and to trust the moment unfolding before us. This rhythm aligns deeply with our approach, encouraging presence, patience, and thoughtful image-making.

While we embrace both film and digital photography, film remains an integral part of our work because it supports the qualities we value most.

Creating a tangible object that exists beyond the digital world mirrors how we think about photography itself—not as content to be consumed, but as a lasting record of each celebration. Images that feel enduring, deeply personal, and rooted in the experience of being there.

A final note,

Some things are best discovered rather than announced.

A handwritten note on hotel stationery. A cocktail napkin folded in half. A few words left behind for someone who might understand them.

If you've made it this far, thank you.

We've shared a great deal about how we see, what guides us, and why we create the way we do. At the heart of it all is something quite simple: a deep gratitude for the people who invite us into their lives and trust us to preserve what matters most.

If our words have felt familiar, we would be honored to learn more about your story.

Until then, we wish you a celebration filled with presence, connection, and the people who make it unforgettable.
